What Affects the Cost
Home Visit vs In-Clinic
A home visit generally costs more than an in-clinic appointment, simply because it includes the vet's travel time and the flexibility of coming to you rather than the other way around. Many owners feel this is worth it for the comfort of familiar surroundings.
Planned vs Urgent / Out-of-Hours
A planned, scheduled appointment is usually less expensive than an urgent or out-of-hours visit, which reflects the priority scheduling involved. If your situation isn't urgent, booking a few days ahead can reduce the cost.
Size of Pet
Some practices scale their fees by the size of the animal, since larger pets can require more of the vet's time and materials. Others charge a flat rate regardless of size.
Aftercare and Cremation
The euthanasia visit itself and aftercare (cremation, ashes, keepsakes) are usually priced separately. It's worth asking any practice — including ours — exactly what's included before the day, so nothing feels like a surprise addition afterwards.

What About Other UK Practices?
Prices vary quite widely across the UK depending on the practice, region, and whether it's a mobile/home-visit specialist or a traditional clinic offering home visits as an add-on. As a general guide, many owners find at-home euthanasia costs somewhere in the range of roughly £150–£350 for the visit itself, with cremation and aftercare typically an additional cost on top. It's always worth asking any practice for a clear, itemised price before booking.
